A Message from the Directors...

We would like to welcome you to 28 Days & Counting, a musical different in so many ways. This is theatre specifically geared towards teenagers talking about the subject of sex in a fun manner while seriously exploring the related issues. This musical was first performed as part of a theatrical festival of young women's issues held in Toronto in February of 1997. The music itself features a variety of pop styles including rock, blues, electronic, folk and rap.

The goals of the show are simple; to deliver the facts and issues related to teenage sexuality. In it, you come to know Julie, an 18 year old senior in high school who meets Mark, also 18. The two quickly fall for each other. Julie then faces the decision of whether she should or should not have sex with Mark. She has two friends that try to heavily influence her decision. Sam, an outgoing and conspicuous type who thinks Julie should "take the plunge" and Marie, a sweet and shy friend who believes waiting until you're married is best. Top it off with Mark's chauvenistic friend Vince, this group experiences the common trials and tribulations of being teenagers.

Many talented people put a lot of work into making the original production and demo tape come to life and we owe them all a great debt of gratitude. We hope that in form or another, 28 Days will live on to entertain, educate, and provoke thought among young people in the future.
