According to the United Kingdom’s Mental Health Foundation, one of the pillars of good mental health is the “ability to cope with and manage change and uncertainty”. What I appreciate about this definition is that it avoids the word “happy”. Don’t get me wrong, I think happiness is important. But life often can put us in a situation where happiness is simply not possible or realistic. Isn’t true life success the ability to persevere through obstacles we face? This composition celebrates the idea that coping and managing is just as important as being happy.
