Subhadra Vijaykumar (carnatic violin) and Frank Horvat (piano) return with their beautiful improvisations at the Port Credit Library. Admission is free.
Invited by The Chamber Music Society of Mississauga’s “Out and About” series, Subhadra will again be working with pianist, Frank Horvat. Many of you may remember attending their very innovative concert last summer for Museum Mississauga’s On The Verandah series at the Benares Historic House.
On 26th March, they will weave together a unique programme of Carnatic (South Indian classical) and European music, interspersing traditional and classical compositions from both cultures. This will also take the form of a dialogue/musical conversation.
They will also seek to explore the melodic and rhythmic partnership between the violin and electronic piano. In a traditional Carnatic concert it is the mrdangam (double headed drum) that provides percussive accompaniment. In this concert they are again exploring this unique partnership with the piano.
Look forward to seeing you at the Port Credit Library for this FREE concert.
