Toronto Auditions for Musical Theatre Recording

Dec 15, 2016 - Dec 16, 2016
All Day

Event Type

New Musical by Catherine Frid & Frank Horvat

We are seeking the help of experienced singers/actors to help us record demo songs to further develop a great new musical!

SKI Club is a light-hearted musical about four seniors who plot to escape their retirement home and regain control of their finances. This musical had its first reading at the Big Ideas Festival in May 2015 and we are looking to forward the development with the help of these demo recordings. You will be given an honorarium for your participation in the recording session(s).

For these recordings we are looking to cast talented musical theatre professionals (i.e., strong singers and actors) in the following role types:

three women: 60s-70s

If you want to apply to audition, please make sure you are also available for the rehearsals and recording sessions in January. See sections below for more detailed information on dates and locations.

Please submit the following items to:
– resume
– audio demo (includes 2 or more songs or song excerpts)
[if you don’t have a demo, please just send us your resume]

Auditions are by invitation only. Please see the above section for information on how to apply.

Held during the day on Thursday December 15 and Friday December 16, exact time TBA.

Location: a theatre in downtown Toronto.

Audition Requirements:
– prepare 1 song of your choice in the musical theatre genre*
– try-out 1 song from SKI Club at the audition (with sheet music and/or by rote with the help of the composer)

*Note: you can perform your piece a cappella. We will also provide a CD player and a keyboard (you provide the accompanist if you wish to have one).

If selected, you will be required to attend 1-2 rehearsal sessions, during the day, sometime between January 3-5.

Location: location in Toronto TBD.

If selected, you will be required to attend 1-2 recording sessions during the week, between 10am and 4pm, sometime between Friday January 6 and Wednesday January 11.

Location: at a small recording studio in the West end near the College/Dundas streetcars. There is a bit of a walk from the streetcar stop and the studio is up one large flight of exterior stairs (no elevator). (note: the studio has a resident cat)
