In conjunction with World Mental Health Day and co-presented by the Canadian Music Centre, Toronto pianist and composer, Frank Horvat, presents a special solo piano performance of his compositions inspired by his own struggles and successes dealing with depression. Many of these compositions are from his latest album, You Haven’t Been.
During this concert, Frank will share his compositions and the personal stories behind them. The music and storytelling is a mix of introspection, hope and despair. “Deeply personal and profoundly beautiful music” – WholeNote Magazine. This event hopes to help end the stigma and offer rare access to peer into another’s soul.
Half of ticket sales will be donated to mental health organizations – Stella’s Place and The Centre for Mindfulness Studies. Reps from these mental health orgs will be on-hand to answer questions and talk about how they help those dealing with mental health challenges.
“The pieces are moving, deeply emotional, personal and at the same time universal as they evoke feelings like sadness, soul longing – that all of us share. I had to use my tissue more than once. Really powerful work.”
– E.K., You Haven’t Been album listener
