Hanging pictures or artwork in your home is such a common activity that makes you feel, well…more at home. My home is also my work and creative space so it’s fitting that what I place on the walls in this space also represents that part of my life. A bunch of months ago, I realized that I didn’t have much on the walls that reflected this. I decided I needed to make a change.
Part of my music-making life that is best represented in a visual form are the 11 albums that I have produced of my compositions. Honestly, making these albums is without a doubt one of my greatest life achievements. Coupled with the fact that album art for each is so original and artistic, I had to get them up on my wall…
It feels great to have added this! What I like about this style of frame (grid-art/collage picture frame as Umbra calls it) is the space dedicated to each album cover, but also the blank spots where future album covers will go. So, when I get up from my desk to go to the ‘living’ part of my home, I have to walk by and see the reflection of all the music content I’ve already created and all the music content I have yet to create. Right now, there are more blank spots than spots that include an album cover. As much as I have done, I feel that there’s so much more still to come.
For me it’s a balance. I want to celebrate my past successes. But I also want to have a constant motivation to produce new, bigger and greater work. Who knew that two simple picture frames could have the power to remind me of this daily?
