Programme Notes

This set of student piano pieces, and accompanying story by Karen Moonah, explores the wonderful world of the Loobies, a fictional bunch who live on an island called Loobienox. Students have the opportunity to discover music in a fun and interesting way, just as our Loobie friends do in the story.

As a composer and teacher, I feel that people are engaged with music that makes them feel an emotion or tells a story. This is what Loobienox is all about! A young performer will be able to play a short piece about a character or an event that they will also be able to read about.

Loobienox features pieces suitable for students of various levels (not necessarily in order of difficulty). Contrasting tempi, dynamics and articulation make the pieces a useful tool in developing technique while the student has fun at the same time.
