The Green Keys Tour was a solo piano concert tour presented by composer and pianist Frank Horvat, spanning over 60 cities across Canada and the U.S. from March 2010 to April 2011. Launched in conjunction with the release of his second album, A Little Dark Music, the tour featured Horvat’s environmentally themed compositions and showcased his commitment to eco-friendly practices.
Through this tour, Frank explored the power of sound to heal, bring communities together, and spark conversations about creating a better world. The Canadian leg of the tour was bullfrogpowered, and Horvat worked to minimize its environmental impact, aiming to inspire other musicians to adopt sustainable practices. “I wanted everything I did on the tour to act as an example of how people can still pursue their dreams and ambitions without hurting Mother Nature in the process,” he explains.
Traveling across North America using sustainable modes of transportation, Horvat performed his 60-minute meditative piano piece, Earth Hour. These performances, held in complete darkness, immersed audiences in a shared, powerful energy, leaving a lasting impression on both the listeners and the composer. The tour’s unique experiences have profoundly influenced Horvat’s creative work and his perspective ever since. A portion of the proceeds from CD sales at the performances were donated to the World Wildlife Fund.
