On Thursday we recorded piece #3 on my upcoming album, What Goes Around… This piece is appropriately named Wood and Metal Bars.
Here’s the Wood…
And, the metal…
What do they all have in common? Sticks, lots and lots of different kinds of hitting instruments made from yarn, rubber and who knows what else, there are just so many to choose from!
Four instruments but just one performer, the amazing Beverley Johnston!
Behind and under the board was engineer Jeremy Darby at Canterbury Music Co. at beat 1 of bar -1 of 315!
Things were a little more relaxed when we were through the wood and onto the metal!
Beverley back at work on the xylophone:
There were no pictures of the glockenspiel performance… if you’ve ever been close to a live glockenspiel you’ll understand, hands were too busy plugging ears to take pictures 🙂
The session went beautifully! The engineering team of Julian Decorte and Jeremy Darby were fabulous as always but I can’t say enough about Beverley – just a phenomenal player and a wonderful person!
Stay tuned, 2 more pieces to record and then we’ll get ready for a release of What Goes Around… in 2019!
