To open their 2022-23 season, the Vancouver Bach Choir is delighted to present two contemporary works, examining the challenges and opportunities of our modern world, both in nature and the environment as well as the emotional impact of self-isolation through the COVID-19 pandemic of the past two years. This concert includes Sarah Kirkland Snider’s ‘Mass for the Endangered’ and the premiere of a new cantata for vocal soloists, chorus and chamber ensemble, ‘Memories of Self-Isolation’ by Frank Horvat. This is a sequel to Frank’s Music for Self-Isolation project. The Vancouver Bach Choir has collected texts from the community which provide lyrics to the new piece reflecting on the pandemic.
Though the Vancouver Bach Choir has a 92 year history of presenting high quality choral programming, this concert goes beyond a traditional choral concert, blending beautiful music with an appeal to listeners to reflect on our modern world and act for positive change.
